Save Me From Iraq? What?

You may be wondering why I created this website. Let me explain and maybe you can even help.

My name is Brian and I am a United States Citizen. I was born in a small town in Florida about 26 years ago. I have a wife and 2 kids (boy and girl, since everyone always asks). My children are about to enter school, real school, not the expensive day care school. Well, lets go back to the beginning...

When I was in High School, my dream was to go to West Point for college and go into the military to serve my country. I wasn't the best student, but I put forth an effort. Now, to get into West Point you need a Senator or State Representative to sponsor you to even be considered. Wow, sounds easy right? Sure.. if you have a lot of money maybe. Long story short, my friend with some influence was able to get in (they had the senator over for dinner at their house) and I didn't have a chance at all.

I have always wanted to serve my country and defend the principles and ideals of this great land. It has done a lot for me, so I wanted to put something back. My Grandfather was in the Army, and my Step-Grandfather (other side) was in the Air Force. I had some military background in my family, but what I learned was never go in as enlisted. So, I went to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida. A good school. This is where I met my wife, love at first sight. We met studying chemistry (crazy, right) and we have been together ever since. I started working a part time job to help pay for school, but then I had to start going to school part time. I changed majors from engineering to management (I figured management would be more useful in a military life) and that set me back a couple of semesters. I then had two kids and college was a back burner issue as I had to work to support the family. I am taking night school now and will graduate (finally) in the Summer of this year. (I guess I was on the 8 year track)

"So what?," you say? Well, now I am in a situation where when I graduate I can join the military as an officer and serve to help my country. The problem now is I am very conflicted about everything that is going on. The War on Terror, the War in Iraq, the Iran issues, and political motives. Is serving my country now going to help defend its ideals and rights? Or am I just going to help with manpower in a war that may not be justified anymore?

THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP!

I need you, my fellow American Citizens, and International Citizens, to help me make the right choice. I would like everyone that visits this site to place a vote for either joining up at the end of college, or stay out of the military and going into a job such as a Public Prosecutor of Police Officer.

Why vote?

• You can influence my life with your vote

• If you are voting to keep me stateside (out of the military) you will be helping me go to law school.
• If you are voting to send me into the military, you will be helping me supplement the low wages a soldier receives and lower some of my debt so I can help my family while I am away.

Why does a vote cost a dollar?

1. Otherwise, I would have some hacker or kid clicking my vote button all day and overly influencing the vote
2. It means you really care about your vote
3. Its only a buck, so it excludes no one
4. You can leave a comment with your vote
5. It will help my afford to either serve or go back to school.

Why am I separating the votes? I want to know how my own citizens feel as well as the international audience feels. I find it very interesting to know what the other countries around us feel about our military and if they think our way of life is worth defending. Or if they think our military is even being used for that purpose.
